Located along Farrer Road and close to Farrer Road MRT, Empress Market is also known as Farrer Road Food Centre. In this area, you can find a wide range of hawker food at a very reasonable price. One of the most famous meals at Empress Market is Chicks N' Chops
It is even indicated on the signboard itself: Best Chicken Chop! It has been around since 1977, selling their best seller Chicken Chop with Rice ($4.90)
Chicken Chop with Rice ($4.90)
Has been one of their best selling items for many years, the taste is undoubtedly nice. Served with sweet and sour sauce with slices of pineapple, onions, and peas, and accompanied with butter rice, this meal can satisfy your hunger without hurting your pocket. I love how the sauce goes well with the tenderness of the chicken.
Pork Chop with Rice ($5.90)
Comes with a bigger portion compared to the chicken chop, this pork chop is nicely cooked with crispy skin on the outside, and soft and tender meat on the inside. Served with sweet and sour sauce with slices of pineapple, onions, and peas as well, the taste of the sauce blends nicely with the pork. Are you drooling yet?
Fish and Chips ($5.90)
Served with perfect tenderness and softness, I only hoped that they will add some flavour to the fish. Tastes a bit bland, but it doesn't seem less appetising. If only they will add more fries to the meal, then this meal would be way better.
Cheese Fries ($4.90)
I am a big fan of cheese fries, that I even bought the cheese sauce from supermarket and make my own cheese fries at home before I'm going broke. Nothing special about the cheese fries. It just tastes the same like other cheese fries that you can get from other hawkers, but what I love about this, is that it is considered cheaper compared to any other places I have tried. With a price of less than $5, we can share this cheese fries among three people. Cheaper, isn't it?
